Selection of prosthesis:

  1. Size: it depends on the bone structure of each patient
  2. Shape: rounded or drop shapes.
  3. Profile: High, low, moderate, moderate plus
  4. Cover: smooth, textured.

Every patient should be fully informed, decide with total knowledge and know which prosthesis would be implanted.

Surgery

  1. Anesthesia type: local/ NLA (local+sedatives)/ general.
  2. Surgery type: ambulatory/hospital confinement.
  3. Place of intervention: operating room.

Anatomical placement:

  1.  Under mammary gland
  2. Under muscle

Approaches

  1. periareolar: incision around the breast areola in its inferior margin, leaving a really concealed scar.
  2. Submammarian   :a 4 cm incision (aprox) under breast, leaving a scar hidden by the breast.
  3. Armpit: an incision in the armpit’s skin. The prosthesis is introduced up to the desired place, leaving a scar hidden by the armpit.

Indications

Pre-surgical:

  1. studies and tests
  2. a minimun of 8 hours of fastening.
  3. If you are on any medication ask your doctor first.
  4. To have a compressive bra for the post-surgery.
  5. To have an escort to get your certificate of discharge.

Post-surgery:

  1. Prescription: antibiotic and painkillers.
  2. A low calorie diet.
  3. Bed rest for 48 hours
  4. To sleep on your back during 3 or 4 days.
  5. To use the bra permanently for 30 days.

Allowed activities:

After four days, office work and walking
Driving only after a week.

Results:

They are noticeable immediately after, most patients who enlarge the volume of their breasts with implants have a high level of satisfaction with the results.

When some problem arises (capsular contracture or rupture), it is generally due to the quality of the prosthesis implanted. Therefore, the prosthesis should be chosen very carefully and with the assistance of a professional. It is not necessary to change the implants if they are kept in normal conditions.
